How to add an animated heart to a graphic [GIMP]
Do you use GIMP to make graphics? If so, this is a great skill to know, especially with confession avatars.
Step 1: Open your pre-existing graphic.
File< Open
Step 2: Create a new transparent layer
Layer< New Layer
Step 3: Go to your Toolbox window and click on the Pencil icon. Make the brush a Circle (11), and make the scale a .10
Also zoom to 400%- it is much easier to see what you are doing. Also change your color of the pencil at this time, if wanted.
Step 4: With your mouse, create a mark where you want the bottom of your heart to be.
Step 5: Add another transparent layer
Layer < New Layer
Step 6: Make 2 marks on the graphic again, by going diagonally up one space from where the original dot was. do this twice.
Step 7: Add another transparent Layer
Layer < New Layer
Step 8: Add two dots diagonally up from where those two dots were.
Step 9: Add new transparent layer
Layer< New Layer
Step 10: Add two dots diagonally from where the the previous two dots were.
Step 11: Add new transparent layer
Layer < New Layer
Step 12: Make a mark with the pencil one space up from your previous dot to both sides.
Step 13: Add new transparent layer
Layer < New Layer
Step 14: Go diagonally up one space inward to both sides and mark with your pencil
Step 15: Create a new transparent layer
Layer < New Layer
Step 16: Create a dot going inward next to the dots from Step 14.
Step 17: Create a new transparent layer
Step 18: See that space in bewteen those 4 dots? We made in Steps 14 & 16? Mark with your pencil the space under it.
Here's what your product should look similar to right now:
--------- This next part is how to fill your heart with colors. If you want to have multiple colors in your heart, just switch colors when wanted.
Step 19: Create a new transparent layer
Layer < New Layer
Step 20: Take your pencil, and starting at the bottom click the first little pixel inside the heart with your pencil tool, still keeping the .10 Scale and Circle (11) size.
Step 21: Make a new transparent layer
Layer< New Layer
Step 22: Fill in the next 3 spaces going across inside the heart above where you just made the first mark inside the heart.
Step 23: Add a new transparent layer
Layer < New Layer
Step 24: Fill in the next 5 spaces going across inside the heart above whre you just made the first mark inside the heart.
Step 25: Make a new transparent layer
Layer < New Layer
Step 26: Fill in the remaining squares at the top of the inside of the heart, going across.
Step 27: View your animation
Filters < Animation < Playback
Step 28: If you like your animation, optimize it and polish it up.
Filters < Animation < Optimize (For GIF)
A new window will pop up, don't worry! Feel free to go to Filters< Animation< Playback again, to see your animation once more before you save.
Step 29: Save your finished product. Make sure you save as a gif in a place where you can find it. A window will pop up asking if you would like to export. Move checkmark or bullet to save as animation
If you want your animation to be slow, add to the amount of milliseconds. [OPTIONAL: You could also do this by putting more transparent layers between each step.] Click save!
